Musical and Liturgical Scholarships
At St Barnabas we are passionate about training the next generation of church musicians within the Anglo Catholic liturgical tradition. We are fortunate to have a number of opportunities avaialable for those interested in developing their skills and knowledge of church music, whether as singers, choir trainers, or organists.
Our music staff can provide 1-1 tuition in organ playing for both beginners and more advanced students. In particular we specialise in teaching the organ as a first keyboard instrument. Financial support for children who regularly attend the church and want to learn may be available.
The Ouseley Music in Liturgy Studentship
A generous grant from The Ouseley Church Music Trust has enabled us to make this exciting opportunity available. For further information on how to apply, or for an informal discussion about the post, please contact the Director of Music by clicking the button below
We currently have three established choral scholarships for singers aged 15-19. This has been enabled through the generosity of the Ouseley Church Music Trust. The Choral Scholars will have a privileged position within the church working with professional musicians and gaining hands-on experience of singing in an historic parish with an excellent musical tradition and a busy and challenging series of services and events.
Many professional musicians and singers began their careers as Choral Scholars and St Barnabas is delighted that it will be able to offer this opportunity to talented young musicians that, ultimately, might lead to similar positions at Colleges and Universities.
We currently have one vacancy available. If you are interested in an informal conversation, please contact the Director of Music, Dr Tom Edwards
